Stripe has entered advanced negotiations to acquire OpenRouter for approximately $10 billion, according to Bloomberg, marking one of the largest deals in the AI infrastructure space. Reports on the potential acquisition surfaced on July 23, 2026, and discussions are now said to be exclusive. No agreement has yet been finalized. OpenRouter, founded in New York in 2023, gives developers a single API to access over 500 large language models from more than 60 providers. Instead of wiring up separate connections to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and others, a developer hits one endpoint and routes traffic wherever they want.
