Strive backs Bitcoin’s open-source backbone with new stewardship commitment to Brink

Strive, Inc. (NASDAQ: ASST) announced what it’s calling a “Bitcoin Stewardship Commitment” on July 22, pledging support for Brink, the nonprofit organization that funds Bitcoin Core contributors and infrastructure development.

The company currently holds approximately 19,900 to 20,000 BTC, valued at around $1.3 billion.

What Brink actually does

Brink was established in 2020 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a simple but critical mission: making sure talented developers can afford to work on Bitcoin full-time. The organization runs grants and fellowship programs aimed at sustaining the core infrastructure that underpins a trillion-dollar network.

Brink has emerged as one of the largest funders of active Bitcoin Core contributors, according to independent research analyses.

Strive didn’t disclose exactly how much money it’s putting behind this commitment, nor did it specify a timeline for the support. The company indicated it plans to continue evaluating support for other independent organizations involved in Bitcoin development, education, research, and policy advocacy.

Strive’s Bitcoin-first identity

Strive has positioned itself as what it calls a “pioneering Bitcoin treasury firm.” The firm emerged from a merger in 2025, establishing itself as a publicly traded entity that treats Bitcoin as a core component of its treasury management.

The company’s stated strategy involves increasing its BTC per share and generating returns that outpace Bitcoin’s own performance, using treasury accumulation and alternative investment approaches to create alpha on top of simply holding the asset.

The bigger picture for institutional Bitcoin support

Brink’s structure as an independent nonprofit with its own governance provides a buffer that direct corporate sponsorship of individual developers would not, as developers maintain editorial control over the codebase.
