Swansea City signs Canadian international Stephen Eustáquio from Porto on two-year deal

Swansea City have completed the signing of Canadian midfielder Stephen Eustáquio from FC Porto, bringing a player with 157 appearances at one of Europe’s most decorated clubs to the English Championship. The deal, announced on August 27, puts Eustáquio on a two-year contract with an option for a third year. The transfer fee is reported to be approximately €4 million, roughly $4.3 million, with performance-related add-ons that could push the total to €5.65 million. Porto also secured a 10% sell-on clause. From World Cup captain to Championship newcomer Eustáquio is not your typical second-tier signing. The 29-year-old midfielder has 61 senior international caps for Canada and wore the captain’s armband during the 2026 World Cup, which was co-hosted on Canadian soil. Eustáquio’s standing at Porto deteriorated sharply over the past year, culminating in a stretch where he logged exactly one minute across three league appearances in the early part of 2026.
