Tata Consultancy Services plans AI data center campus in southern India

Tata Consultancy Services just made one of the largest AI infrastructure bets in Indian history. The IT giant’s data center subsidiary, HyperVault, announced plans to develop a massive artificial intelligence data center campus spanning 264 acres in Hyderabad’s Future City district in Telangana. The project carries an investment commitment of up to Rs 70,000 crore (roughly $8.2B) from HyperVault and its partners, with a target capacity of 1 gigawatt. What TCS is building The Hyderabad campus will be purpose-built for high-density GPU deployments designed for training, inference, and advanced AI workloads. The target customers are frontier AI companies and hyperscalers. TCS is framing this as part of its broader “Infrastructure-to-Intelligence” strategy. The project didn’t materialize overnight. Discussions between Telangana state officials and Tata leadership reportedly took shape at the Davos meeting in January 2026, with the formal announcement following months of negotiations.
