Here’s a sentence that would have sounded like satire five years ago: Wall Street firms may soon pay for a premium data feed of a president’s social media posts, delivered in milliseconds, so their algorithms can trade on them before the rest of us even finish reading. Trump Media Technology Group announced the Truth API on July 18, offering institutional clients a licensed, real-time feed of posts from Truth Social. The service specifically targets high-frequency trading firms and is set to go live next month. And now, financial firms and their lawyers are doing what they do best: trying to figure out exactly where the legal guardrails are. The uncomfortable discovery so far is that there might not be many.
