The UK has added seven new designations under its Iran sanctions regime, extending a pattern of increasingly frequent updates to Britain’s enforcement apparatus targeting individuals and entities linked to the Islamic Republic’s operations abroad. The move fits neatly into what has become a regular cadence of sanctions activity from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. In 2026 alone, the FCDO has already updated its Iran sanctions list multiple times: once on February 2 with eleven designations, again on May 11 with twelve, and a further addition on July 13. What the sanctions actually do UK sanctions against Iran typically impose two core restrictions on designated individuals and entities: asset freezes and travel bans. If you’re on the list, any assets you hold within UK jurisdiction are locked, and you’re barred from entering the country. British citizens and companies are also prohibited from making funds or economic resources available to anyone on the list.
