Vitor Pereira stays committed to Nottingham Forest despite Al Hilal interest

Vitor Pereira isn’t going anywhere. Despite Al Hilal reportedly dangling a lucrative wage package to lure the Portuguese manager to the Saudi Pro League, Pereira remains committed to his role as Nottingham Forest head coach.

While he’s staying put, a contract extension isn’t expected this summer either.

The Al Hilal courtship

Reports of Al Hilal’s interest surfaced between June 9-11, 2026, with the Saudi club apparently willing to offer a significant financial package.

Pereira isn’t new to the region. He previously coached both Al-Ahli and Al-Shabab in Saudi Arabia, so the league isn’t some unknown quantity for him.

The contract situation

Pereira was appointed head coach on February 15, 2026, on an 18-month contract that runs through June 2027. That means Forest has roughly a year of runway before this becomes a genuinely pressing issue.

Pereira himself indicated back in May 2026 that reaching an agreement with Forest “is not difficult to find.”

What this means for Forest’s broader strategy

Forest has also been expanding its commercial footprint beyond traditional football revenue. The club entered into a partnership with the FLOKI crypto ecosystem back on August 15, 2024, a deal that included LED advertising, media branding, and various promotional rights.
