Wolves Esports, the competitive gaming arm of English Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers, has signed Singaporean flex player Derrick “Deryeon” Yee to its Valorant Champions Tour China roster. The move comes after Deryeon spent over a year away from tier-1 competition, with his last VCT appearance dating back to the 2025 Pacific season with Global Esports.
The signing, announced on July 5, finalizes the team’s lineup ahead of VCT China Stage 2. Deryeon will fill the squad’s import slot, joining teammates Spring, yosemite, glacier, aluba, and nothing.
Why traditional sports clubs in esports matter for crypto
Wolves Esports itself partnered with the LAKE project in 2024, a collaboration that revolved around cryptocurrency. That partnership illustrates how esports teams backed by major sports brands have become vehicles for crypto companies seeking mainstream exposure.
Deryeon’s return and what it signals
Deryeon reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Wolves Esports in mid-June before the official announcement. During his time away from top-tier play, he competed in regional Challengers events with Motiv Esports, staying active but outside the VCT spotlight.
His previous stint with Global Esports during the 2025 Pacific season gave him experience at the highest level of Valorant competition. Notably, he contributed to Bleed Esports’ victory in the VCT Ascension Pacific 2023, which led to the team’s promotion.
