Zcash infrastructure developer Zakura has proposed a new wallet security feature that would give each ZEC swap through NEAR Intents a separate viewing key to protect users’ transaction histories against potential future quantum computing attacks. Summary Zcash developer Zakura has proposed a new wallet feature that would assign a separate viewing key to every ZEC swap made through NEAR Intents. The proposal addresses a privacy risk where publicly exposed Zcash addresses could allow future quantum computers to uncover a user’s historical payments. Zakura’s design would limit any recovered viewing key to a single swap while keeping the wallet’s existing spending key unchanged. The system would use private information retrieval to help wallets recover swap transactions without exposing their addresses to database operators. Software wallets using Zakura’s libraries, including Vizor, could integrate the feature in the coming weeks, while hardware wallet support would follow later. In an engineering post, Zakura developer Adam Tucker explained that the proposed system would prevent an attacker from using a single publicly exposed Zcash address to uncover payments received across a user’...
