Advanced Micro Devices shares surge, poised to hit $1T market value

AMD just joined one of the most exclusive clubs in corporate America. Shares of Advanced Micro Devices surged roughly 9-10% on September 21, pushing the chipmaker’s market capitalization past $1 trillion for the first time in its 57-year history. The stock hit an intraday peak of approximately $614, capping a five-day winning streak that added about 24% to the company’s value. The AI engine behind the rally AMD posted Q2 2026 revenue of $11.54 billion, a 50% jump compared to the same quarter a year earlier. The real story, though, lives inside the data-center division. That segment generated $6.7 billion in Q2 revenue alone, a 107% year-over-year increase. Q1 2026 data-center sales were already strong at $5.78 billion, representing 57% annual growth. Year-to-date, AMD shares have climbed more than 180%. Competing with Nvidia on its home turf AMD’s strategy centers on positioning itself as a full-stack AI provider.
