Altimeter’s Gerstner criticizes AI extinction warnings, questions motives

Brad Gerstner, CEO of Altimeter Capital, went on CNBC’s “Halftime Report” on September 11 and did something that’s becoming a genre unto itself in Silicon Valley: he told everyone to calm down about AI killing humanity. Gerstner labeled the growing chorus of AI extinction warnings as “ridiculous hyperbole,” arguing that researchers sounding the alarm are engaged in a coordinated campaign designed to provoke regulatory intervention rather than articulate genuine safety concerns.
