Artificial Analysis becomes official evaluation partner for South Korea’s sovereign AI project

South Korea just handed a significant piece of its national AI strategy to an independent benchmarking outfit. Artificial Analysis has been named the official global evaluation partner for the country’s Sovereign AI Foundation Model project, known domestically as Dokpamo, a government-backed initiative to build competitive, domestically designed AI foundation models without foreign licensing strings attached. The partnership means Artificial Analysis’ Intelligence Index now carries real weight in determining which Korean AI teams advance and which don’t. Specifically, the index accounts for 25 out of 100 points in the project’s second-phase evaluation criteria. How the scoring shook out The second-phase evaluation results landed on August 27, 2026, and the leaderboard was tight. SK Telecom came out on top with 70.6 points out of 100, edging past Upstage at 69.9 and LG AI Research at 69 points. Motif Technologies rounded out the four-team field with 65.8 points overall. The interesting wrinkle: Motif Technologies actually led the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index portion of the evaluation, scoring 11.9 points in that segment alone.
