Teaching a robot to pick up a coffee mug is harder than it sounds. The robot needs millions of examples of human movement, recorded across different hands, grips, speeds, and angles. Axis Robotics thinks it has found a way to crowdsource that problem, and on October 10, 2026, it launched the $AXIS utility token on Base to make the incentive layer official. The token is designed to coordinate and reward contributors who teleoperate simulated robots through a mobile app or web browser, no specialized hardware required. Each valid session produces what the platform calls a robot trajectory, a recorded sequence of movement that can feed into physical AI training pipelines. How the numbers add up By the time of the token launch, the platform had generated between 5.5 and 7 million trajectories from a contributor base of more than 200,000 users, making it one of the larger decentralized applications operating on Base. The data does not just float in a spreadsheet somewhere. Each verified contribution is anchored on Base through a unique Data ID, creating an on-chain record of ownership and provenance. Axis Robotics ran a community sale of $AXIS tokens from September 21 to 28, 2026, selli...
