Binance futures traders ditch altcoins for Bitcoin and Ethereum as volume concentration shifts sharply

When traders get nervous, they tend to reach for the blue chips. That instinct is playing out in real time on Binance futures, where altcoin volume share collapsed from 63% to 47% in the span of a single week, with the bulk of that capital rotating into Bitcoin and Ethereum. What the data actually shows Binance futures trading volume hit $28.74B on June 29, 2026, an 18% jump week-over-week. More trading overall, but a dramatically different composition. BTC accounted for 47.9% of that total. ETH added another 29.2%. Add Solana into the mix and the top three assets alone captured 84.7% of all Binance futures volume, leaving the remaining dozens of listed tokens to split the scraps. For mid-cap altcoins, the scraps got a lot smaller fast. ASTER saw its futures volume fall 76%. WLD dropped 48%. HYPE shed 35%, and ZEC gave back 26%. Across the 20 altcoins tracked during the period, 12 posted net outflows during static trading windows.
