Crypto Fear and Greed Index hits extreme greed for the first time since late 2024

One month ago, the Crypto Fear and Greed Index sat at 26, deep in fear territory. A week ago it was 41, still cautious. Now it’s at 74 and climbing, with some platforms reporting readings above 80, well into extreme greed. From rock bottom to euphoria in six months In February 2026, the index bottomed out at 5, a reading so low it essentially signaled market-wide panic. For context, the index runs from 0 (maximum fear) to 100 (maximum greed), meaning a score of 5 left almost no room for things to feel worse. The index then spent months grinding through the fear zone, hovering in the 20s and 30s through much of the spring and early summer. July saw readings around 26 before the current rally in sentiment took hold. A jump from 41 to 74 in a single week represents one of the sharpest week-over-week moves the index has recorded. CoinStats, an alternative data aggregator, currently pegs its own version of the metric at 83, firmly in extreme greed territory.
