Ethereum Foundation Restructures Core Team to Focus on Network Scaling and UX

1 day ago 4

The Foundation renamed its Protocol Research & Development (PR&D) division to simply “Protocol.” Alongside this, some team members have left the organization. Although no exact numbers were shared, the update noted that “some members of PR&D will not be continuing with the Ethereum Foundation.”

This move follows the Foundation’s adoption of a co-executive leadership model three months ago. It’s all part of a push for stronger focus and more transparent governance.

Now, the Protocol team will target three key areas: scaling Ethereum’s base layer (L1), improving blob data throughput, and enhancing user experience (UX).

Veteran contributors remain on board with new roles. Tim Beiko and Ansgar Dietrichs will lead L1 scaling. Alex Stokes and Francesco D’Amato are in charge of blob scaling. Barnabé Monnot and Josh Rudolf will focus on UX. Dankrad Feist will support all areas as an advisor.

The Foundation says its leaner structure will allow better coordination between research, testing, and deployment. This comes as Ethereum prepares for its next major upgrade, Fusaka, which will introduce Peer Data Availability Sampling (PeerDAS).

Meanwhile, the Foundation is also using DeFi tools like Aave and Compound to manage its treasury without selling large amounts of ETH.

As of now, ETH is trading at $2,615, up nearly 5% in the past 24 hours.
