A semiconductor startup you’ve probably never heard of just closed the largest Series A in Dutch chip history. Euclyd, founded in 2024 and based at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, raised over €200 million (roughly $230M) in a round co-led by Samsung Electronics, Somerset Capital Partners, and the EU’s Scaleup Europe Fund. What Euclyd is actually building The company is developing custom silicon specifically designed for AI inference, the phase where trained models actually do useful work like answering queries, generating images, or running autonomous systems. Euclyd’s platform, branded “craftwerk,” is engineered to slash energy consumption, cost per token, and physical footprint compared to the GPU-centric approach that currently dominates data centers. The company claims its technology can achieve approximately 100 times higher power efficiency and lower costs relative to existing solutions. At the heart of the craftwerk platform sits a system-in-package containing 16,384 processors, each featuring 128-way SIMD architecture, paired with 1 TB of ultra-bandwidth memory.
