xAI’s Grok Build platform just rolled out a feature that makes its AI do something most humans struggle with: actually checking its own work. The new /deep-research command deploys multiple parallel agents to break down research questions, verify sources independently, and deliver a comprehensive report complete with citations and, crucially, a list of what it couldn’t find. How the deep research command works Rather than a single AI model generating one response to a prompt, the /deep-research command spins up multiple agents that each tackle different angles of a research query at the same time. These agents aggregate verified claims, cross-reference evidence across sources, and independently validate information before anything gets presented to the user. The result is a cited report that doesn’t just give you an answer. It tells you where the answer came from and, perhaps more importantly, where the gaps in available information exist. The feature integrates with Exa, a tool that enables real-time web searches and page readings.
