Iran displays seized Anduril underwater drone reportedly taken from US Navy near Strait of Hormuz

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy says it seized a US unmanned underwater vehicle near the Strait of Hormuz on September 8, putting one of America’s newest autonomous naval assets on display for the world to see. The vehicle in question: Anduril Industries’ Dive-LD, a torpedo-shaped drone submarine that costs roughly $2.5 million per unit and was first delivered to the US Navy just last year. Defense analysts at Naval News confirmed that images shared by Iranian sources closely match the Dive-LD’s distinctive design features. The US military, for its part, has not issued any independent confirmation of the seizure. What exactly did Iran grab The Dive-LD is not your average underwater gadget. At 5.8 meters long and 1.2 meters in diameter, it weighs approximately 3 tons. It can swim autonomously for up to 10 days and dive to depths of 6,000 meters, which is deeper than most of the ocean floor.
