Peter Doolan is heading back to Salesforce from OpenAI, adding another name to a growing list of executives who have made the round trip between the enterprise software giant and the AI lab. The Salesforce-OpenAI revolving door Doolan is not the first executive to boomerang back to Salesforce after a stint at OpenAI. Kaylin Voss, who served as VP of Sales at OpenAI, resigned from that position in mid-August 2026 to rejoin Salesforce after roughly five months at the AI company. Then there’s Denise Dresser, who left a leadership role at Slack to become OpenAI’s Chief Revenue Officer, only to depart after approximately nine months. Her exit was followed by the appointment of Dali Rajic as OpenAI’s new CRO in mid-August 2026, marking the fifth leadership change in that function within a single year. Doolan’s career at Salesforce stretches back to 2013, when he joined as EVP of Digital Transformation and Innovation. He eventually became Slack’s Chief Customer Officer in December 2023, overseeing customer engagement for the workplace messaging platform after Salesforce’s acquisition.
