LayerZero Labs just pulled the curtain back on ATLAS, a new exchange platform built on its Zero Layer-1 blockchain that wants to become the plumbing beneath global financial markets. The name stands for Aggregated Trading Liquidity and Settlement. The platform is designed as a “headless” exchange, meaning it provides the backend trading infrastructure while letting third parties build their own front-end interfaces on top. What ATLAS actually does At launch, ATLAS is targeting 200,000 transactions per second on Zero Layer-1. For context, Visa’s network handles roughly 65,000 TPS at peak capacity. LayerZero has stated aspirations to eventually push beyond 2 million TPS. The initial product focus will center on spot cryptocurrency trading and perpetual futures. Prediction markets and options are on the roadmap for subsequent phases. The platform promises traditional market efficiency while preserving decentralized features like self-custody and on-chain verifiability through zero-knowledge proofs.
