LOL EWC 2026 groups finalized with teams from four regions

1 hour ago 1

The Esports World Cup’s League of Legends bracket just got real. Sixteen teams have been sorted into four groups of four, with squads representing Korea, China, Europe, North America, and Brazil all confirmed for the tournament running July 15-19, 2026 in Paris.

Two teams from each group will advance to the playoff stage, meaning half the field gets eliminated before the brackets even begin.

How the groups break down

The group stage will use a GSL-style double-elimination format. Group matches will feature best-of-3 and best-of-5 series.

Among the confirmed teams, the draw includes G2 Esports, AG.AL, Dplus KIA, and FURIA. Seeding pools were designed to distribute strength evenly across the four groups.

The teams earned their spots through a combination of regional championship victories and online qualifier slots, with nine of the sixteen berths allocated through the online qualification pathway.

Gen.G returns as defending champion

Gen.G won the inaugural EWC League of Legends title in 2025 and will be back to defend it. They won’t be the only Korean threat. T1 is also in the mix, along with Dplus KIA.

FURIA represents CBLOL, Brazil’s premier League of Legends circuit, while AG.AL brings LPL representation from China. The inclusion of five major competitive regions makes this one of the more geographically diverse League of Legends events outside of Riot Games’ own World Championship.

Paris replaces Riyadh as host city

The 2026 edition marks a geographic shift for the Esports World Cup, which moves to Paris after previously being planned for Riyadh.

The total prize pool sits at $2 million. This is the second year League of Legends has been featured within the EWC’s multi-title framework.

What this means for the competitive landscape

The double-elimination group stage provides some insurance against early stumbles, but the single-elimination playoffs that follow leave no room for recovery.
