Izzy Englander started Millennium Management in 1989 with $35 million and a model that most of Wall Street found strange. Thirty-five years later, the firm manages $92 billion and is actively raising what could be a record-setting $20 billion in fresh capital. The pod-shop playbook, explained Millennium’s core innovation is the pod-shop model: instead of one centralized investment team making big calls, the firm houses hundreds of independent trading teams, each operating like a small fund within the larger fund. The firm runs more than 6,800 employees across 18 global offices and executes millions of trades daily. In 2025, that structure delivered a 10.5% return for investors. A $92B asset base and a $14B valuation Millennium’s AUM climbed from roughly $76 billion to $79 billion in 2025 before pushing toward the current $92 billion figure. The capital raise currently in progress is targeting approximately $20 billion in fresh inflows, which would exceed the firm’s own initial expectations.
