Investors poured roughly $7.7 billion into North American gold-backed ETFs during August, making it the third-highest monthly inflow the region has ever recorded. The figure is part of a broader $18 billion global wave into gold funds, according to the World Gold Council, and it signals that the flight to hard assets is picking up speed rather than cooling off. What makes the number more striking is its concentration. More than $4 billion of North America’s total arrived in just five trading days during the week of August 17.
