A stablecoin that barely existed a year ago just posted a month of trading volume that would make most mid-cap tokens jealous. Paxos’ USDG, also known as Global Dollar, racked up $21.8 billion in trading volume on Uniswap during September, representing 98% of its total decentralized exchange activity. To put that in perspective, USDG’s circulating supply sits at roughly $3.2 billion. That means the stablecoin turned over nearly seven times its entire supply on a single DEX in a single month. The StablePair Hook effect The volume explosion wasn’t random. It traces directly to Uniswap’s launch of its StablePair Hook on September 10, a new feature built on Uniswap v4 that introduced dynamic fee structures for stablecoin trading pairs like USDC/USDG on Ethereum. USDG currently holds over $600 million in total value locked across DEX pools, a substantial liquidity base that helps explain how the token could absorb that level of trading activity without significant price deviation from its dollar peg.
