PSV Eindhoven has landed Lutsharel Geertruida on a season-long loan from RB Leipzig, bringing the 26-year-old Dutch defender back to the Eredivisie after a two-year absence. The deal, completed around August 20-21, includes a non-obligatory purchase option, giving PSV a trial run before deciding whether to make the move permanent. Geertruida made his debut for PSV on Sunday, August 23, just days after the ink dried on his loan agreement. The deal structure PSV is paying approximately €6 million for the loan period, a figure that primarily covers Geertruida’s salary. The purchase option sits somewhere between €12.5 million and €15 million. For context, RB Leipzig originally signed Geertruida from Feyenoord in 2024 for a reported €20 million.
