Russia extends diesel export ban beyond September amid Ukraine attacks on refineries

Russia will keep its ban on diesel exports in place through at least September 30, 2026, a decision driven by the uncomfortable reality that Ukrainian drones keep finding their way to Russian refineries. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak has signaled the restriction could stretch even further, potentially to October 31. What started as a temporary measure on July 8 has now become something closer to a semi-permanent feature of Russia’s energy policy.
