SpaceXAI, the artificial intelligence infrastructure subsidiary of SpaceX, is actively evaluating several sites across Texas for a massive new data center project. The facility is expected to match or exceed the computing capacity of its existing Memphis-area operations, which run at roughly 1 gigawatt and house hundreds of thousands of Nvidia GPUs. From Memphis to the Lone Star State SpaceXAI’s existing flagship, the Colossus data center near Memphis, became something of an industry legend when it was completed in just 122 days. The proposed Texas facility would be built either from the ground up or by retrofitting existing structures. Both approaches are on the table as the company looks to optimize speed and cost efficiency, leveraging the same rapid deployment playbook it used in Memphis. Texas makes obvious strategic sense for several reasons. The state offers relatively favorable conditions for power-intensive operations, including a deregulated energy market and vast tracts of available land. SpaceX already has significant infrastructure presence in the state, with operations in Boca Chica and other locations, giving SpaceXAI a built-in logistical foundation. The company has...
