Starknet has launched a seven-day community vote on October 15, 2026, asking STRK holders whether the network should explore leaving Ethereum’s Layer 2 ecosystem to become an independent Layer 1 blockchain designed to resist future quantum computing threats. Summary Starknet opened a seven day community poll on researching an independent quantum resistant blockchain network. STRK holders are being asked for their views, but the vote cannot authorize any migration. StarkWare says existing STARK proofs resist quantum attacks, while Ethereum connected infrastructure remains dependent. Starknet says STRK would remain its native token and existing Ethereum bridges would stay open. Approval would begin research and additional votes; rejection would continue quantum upgrades within Starknet L2. The Starknet governance forum published the proposal after StarkWare began discussing the possibility on October 8. The vote is nonbinding and will determine whether developers should conduct further research into the proposed change, with no decision yet made to separate Starknet from Ethereum. The proposal confirms that STRK would remain the network’s native cryptocurrency under either arrangemen...
