Synopsys reports Q3 2026 earnings beat, raises full-year guidance as AI drives chip design demand

Synopsys just delivered a quarter that most companies would frame and hang on the wall. Revenue of $2.477 billion, a 42% jump from $1.740 billion a year ago. Non-GAAP earnings per share of $3.91, comfortably ahead of expectations. A raised full-year outlook. And the stock dropped. The numbers behind the beat Synopsys, the company that makes the software used to design practically every advanced chip on the planet, reported fiscal Q3 2026 results on August 26 that showed strength across both of its major business lines. The Design Automation segment, which houses the company’s core electronic design automation (EDA) tools, generated roughly $2.003 billion. That’s about 81% of total revenue and the engine driving the company’s growth story. Design IP, the segment that licenses reusable chip building blocks to customers, contributed $473.8 million, making up the remaining 19%. On the bottom line, GAAP net income came in at $545.8 million, translating to diluted earnings per share of $2.84. Strip out stock-based compensation and other non-GAAP adjustments, and the picture gets even rosier: non-GAAP net income of $752.5 million, or $3.91 per diluted share.
