World launches World Money super app for global payments and investing

World, the biometric identity and digital asset project co-founded by Sam Altman and Alex Blania, just rolled out World Money, a financial super app designed to let users hold stablecoins, send payments, earn yield, and invest across more than 150 countries. The app launched on September 17, combining self-custodial wallet functionality with features typically reserved for traditional banking apps: payroll deposits, peer-to-peer transfers, and investment tools. What World Money actually does At its core, World Money is a self-custodial wallet that lets users hold US dollar-linked stablecoin balances alongside local currency equivalents. Transfers between users happen via username, complete in seconds, and are typically fee-free. The app supports deposits of multiple assets, including Worldcoin (WLD), USDC, EURC, and various local wrapped currencies. Virtual accounts within the platform allow users to receive direct payroll deposits and bank transfers that automatically convert into stablecoins.
