Archer Aviation to acquire Boeing’s Wisk Aero, SkyGrid, and Insitu in sweeping deal

Archer Aviation is set to acquire three Boeing-related entities, Wisk Aero, SkyGrid, and Insitu, in a deal that would reshape the urban air mobility landscape. As part of the arrangement, Boeing will make an investment in Archer while maintaining access to Wisk’s flight technology. What Archer is getting Wisk Aero has been a wholly owned Boeing subsidiary since 2023, developing autonomous electric air taxi technology. SkyGrid, which Wisk acquired in June 2025, focuses on autonomous flight management systems. Insitu, Boeing’s drone unit acquired in 2008, has spent nearly two decades building unmanned aerial systems, primarily for defense and commercial applications. Boeing has been exploring a sale of the unit as part of a broader effort to shed non-core assets, with potential value estimates hovering around $500 million.
